Need to know the carb #.... if it is an M4MC/M4ME in 1985 carb #'s 17084500 through 17085003 were set at 12/32 inch. Carb #'s 17085004 through 17085298 were set at 13/32 inch for the float level.
You gauge it from the top of the casting in the bowl to the top of the index point at the toe of the float. You adjust the float by bending the float arm, making sure to hold the retaining pin in place.

It is hard to explain but easy to do.

Do you know what the little bolt that you have to use needle nose pliers is for does that need to be tighten all they way down?

Float level adjustment= piece of cake.
