Currently running a my factory modified quadrajet on my 79. I believe it's time to go through it again, and I am getting tired of the overfueling it is doing (can't seem to get it dialed in right)

For those that have had both, which do you prefer?

I don't have money for a high end EFI system like the FAST kit, so I am stuck with rebuilding or looking for a TBI off a late 80's

TBI no question

Had both wheeled both am putting a carb on my dually only until I can find a deisel for it and then that motor will go in Horton with TBI

I've ha both. Love q jets too. But my stock tbi is nicer. I'd just gather all the parts to use a stock tbi.

So, one question that'll help me form an opinion would be a bit more information about your engine...

Stock carb engine or is it modified?

If you've got a moified motor then I would stick with the carb. If your motor is mostly pactory oem setup then you could go with a tbi setup. I would be very careful of what camshaft is in there.

TBI will keep your fuel flow constant and keep your engine running after the first start in the cold weather. Unlike a carb when you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep the engine from dying untill its warmed up. But even though the general opinion is TBI. you just cant get that awsome ideling engine sound unless you have a carb, especially after putting a big cam in that engine.
