Which model/year is the best to search for? Choke style? I'm looking to possibly replace my performer carb in my k10.

Choke style would be decided, or at least influenced, by what your intake is set up for, i.e. hot air or electric or ... uhh, whatever other kinds there are.

My intake is a Holley street dominator I think? The original quadrajet was electric and the edelbrock is electric. I have a quadrajet that is off a 78 but there is fitting that was broken off and I don't know its purpose?
Avoid any of the 80's computer controlled carbs, the older style used a "hot air" style choke that, as far as I know, only works on a factory manifold. I've heard of electric choke conversions but a manual cable is awfully easy.
I put a choke cable on mine once I put in the 383 (new manifold of course) and eventually ditched it. Honestly, even here in CO during the winters, it was almost easier and ran better without it.
It certainly wouldn't idle on it's own without some help for a bit but it didn't feel so "choked" down until it warmed up either

Stay away from any with wires coming off the top, the wires were used for the MC solinoid. And pontiac, olds, Buick....and maybe Cadillac had the fuel line come off the front instead of the side like chevys.
Ah, prolly not important anyway =))
Post up a pic. It's likely a vacuum fitting (of which there are several, so you might be able to plug it), but somebody'll know and see if it's reparable.

Its a long fitting that goes into the *edit* passenger side of the carb thru the throttle linkage

The port is right under the linkage
IIRC, that is a vacuum port to feed a device. I can't remember if that port was full or ported vacuum though?

Quadrajet in question is a 4MV manufactured in 1978 for a manual transmission truck. Now on to finding out what that vacuum port is for...
I think the late 70's are the best years for the 4MV.
