Dam I have some odd carbs. I really need to quit collecting parts like this.

After searching a few sites trying to find the cfm ratings, some of the sites say that all quads are 750 but they don't always flow as 750. Is this correct or is there some other way at determining cfm's?
Ive been to cliff's carb site but I couldn't find anything about cfm's. Anybody have any other good sites to recommend?

Anyone ever seen a carb like this?

Pretty cool anyways.

As it stands now I have 7 chevy, 2 pontiac, 3 buick, 1 olds and 1 caddy quadrajet. I'm hoping the caddy one is big enough to rebuild and throw it on the 468. Any sugestions?

The Cadillac carb flows 850 cfm.

Works well on my 508 cadillac.

Wow, a Quadrajet farm.
Get this book. It's the new bible on Quadrajets. VERY good info, fantastic quality color pics. One of the best, you won't be disappointed. Identifies carbs by their numbers and gives OEM applications and CFM. The 500 Cadillac carbs had the biggest idle circuits of all the Quadrajets.

I dont know why i think the Dualjet is so bad ass but i do! Love your collection! As others have said, yes all quadrajets flow 750 except the big cadillac one. Also, 305(and i think 4.3's) have quadrajets that dont let the secondarys open as far as normal.

I still have about 5-10 more I need to put up but I bought em for about 5 bucks each. Guy I know out in the county was doing some spring cleaning and was going to scrap em all, couldn't let that happen. :doah: Ended up picking up about 1 ton and a half of chevy parts. Sold most of it but I have some left I still need to reorganize. Thats the reason both my garages are dam near full.
Also picked up about 10-20 gauge clusters as well. Great for spare parts! :haha:

Thanks for the link on the book, Ill have to pick it up.

I'll have to see if any of them are off a 305 or 4.3.

Alot of hot rod and car enthusiast shops (not the rice burner hobby shops though) seem to carry the book. You might be able to find it locally.

from what I wrote down yesterday according to my numbers only one I have from that era is a 75' chevy one.

m4(copyright symbol)YA are the numbers on it.The rest are early 70's early 80's. Shoot a pm if you want more details. No idea on the condition, I'd have to find it again to see.

I thought the carbs were on the ground when you took the picture. Then I saw the outlet and thought "why does he have an outlet in the ground"?
I guess @ 11.20 Sunday morning I'm still not fully awake lol.

:rotfl:

Thats funny. When I bought this place both garages only had 1 electrical outlet and one 60 watt light fixture and the 220V in both. I had to rewire pretty much everything in both of them, cant count the number of times I got zapped by hot wires.

I like the DJet, too. Honkin' 4bbl Q Jet main casting, but...something is missing.

I'll have to do some research and see what specifically I need. I remmeber something when I emailed Cliff about 76+ and just aquiring the linkages for the TV cable, and converting to elec choke. I'm not sure what year to stop, I believe 85 or so started using the dual pump with esc, not sure on >84. I'm sure I can use whatever, but I'd prefer not to have 5 extra ports to plug. Keep it simple, the way I need it.

You come across plenty of Q-Jets where the linkage doesn't open the secondaries anymore, so a DualJet is pretty much as good. Should get good mileage.

Big box bookstores have it sometimes too, I got my copy at either barnes and noble or borders, I dont remember which.

I thought Quadrajet secondaries were only operated by vacuum. Aside from the lock on the choke.

The secondary air flaps (top of carb) are opened by vacuum/airflow. But this only happens when the throttles are opened first (bottom of carb). The secondary throttles are turned by a series of links to the throttle cable so they only open when the engine is warm, etc. Sometimes they get gummed up, rusted or whatever and it turns out that you're really only running on the primaries. And as stated before, many of the setups specifically limit how far the secondary throttles will open. When you have a Q-Jet it's always good to check this - and of course mod it for 100% throttle.
