Quarter panel replacement

In some ways, attaching new panels to a vehicle is the easiest kind of body work. Sandblasting, patching sections together and making it all straight can be more tedious. However, you're still likely to get into some of that work with brand new quarters. Once the old quarter panel is removed you're likely to find some rust on other parts that should be addressed before putting the new panel on. Plus a panel that large rarely shows up in the mail without any bends or dents and the aftermarket parts usually need some adjustments to fit correctly on the vehicle.

I had a shop in the Springs do a few rust spot repairs, but they said they wouldn't guarantee it wouldn't come back. One of their repairs came back in the exact same location....passenger side quarter. So unfortunately, I can't recommend anyone either. I am interested if you do find someone though.....

I'm debating on doing it myself. There are reproduction quarters online.

I just don't have the time because I work out of town every week. Also I've never done body work. Depending on the cost, if might be worth it to have a shop do it. There has to be someone who has paid a shop to do these repairs recently.

At a minimum of 10 hours per side at $100/h, just for the quarters, this would get pricey in a hurry at a decent shop. To get them to paintable, I would guess $1500 a side. I

I would not price it up front or I would be really clear that this is a minimum and expect it to go up from there.

Then they did not do it correctly. A replaced section should not come back. A bondo job will.

I hate rust repair. I have passed up a number of cool long roof cars due to the floors being bad. Flintstones bad. Listed as minor rust.

I searched the online aftermarket reproduction quarters. If you can find the version that are complete quarters you are still faced with having to install NEW tail light backing plates and NEW tailgate support posts. While your doing that you should replace the tailpan too. On top of that, you'll need to drill out the spot welds where your existing quarters meet the bed floor. To make things worse, the area just below the seatbelt mounting point is a nightmare.

I am going thru all of this now. I'm gonna see it thru but it's gonna be a long journey.
