Question about 10 bolt?

Pretty much. Haven't had much luck with them personally, as I had 2 grenade themselves on 2 different K5s (both k5s were stock at the time), but some people are able to run them with some success. Generally accepted that 35s are about the limit for them

well thats no good becuase i just put on a new set of 36/13.50s.

i'm going to need to sweap out that rear end...Any suggestions on what to swap it with?

73-87 3/4 ton, direct bolt in, only needs an adapter u-joint.
1ton 14FF will not bolt in.

It's a new u-joint that makes the 1/2 ton driveshaft work with the 3/4 ton yolk, someone should chime in with a part number, I forget....

there aint nothing wrong with the 10 bolts. its the gov lok carrier in the rear axle that breaks so commonly. if you get a carrier replacement locker in the rear theyre good to go with 36s. ive bounced around on some rocks with sucess and the previous owner wheeled it with 40 inch iroks.

I disagree. The last one I had exploded the carrier and it didn't have a gov-lock. The first 10b rear I had a carrier problem as well and it didn't have a gov-lock either. True, I think their carrier must be really weak, but I don't think it's restricted to the gov-lock as the initiating factor.

But then again I really hate those damn 10b now:mad:, so my opinion might not be the most unbiased:D

10 bolts have their place. i have a set now under a s10 that was under fullsizes running 38s for a while and they are holding up great. took them out today with the rear welded down some really rough trails. still work great.
