Question about Defroster

I noticed that when I run the defroster that the A/C compressor kicks on and off like I was using the A/C. What will happen if I remove the compressor??? Im wanting to install a York in its place for onboard air.

i yanked my a/c compressor out a long time ago, and everything still works like normal....when you move the heater controls to the a/c section, it just acts like a vent /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The compressor cycles in defrost mode to remove moisture from the air as it blows past the cooling coils. The defroster doesn't work nearly as well at clearing fog without the a/c, but it will still eventually clear the windshield.
