Question about front driveshaft on my 87 4x4?

I can turn the front drive shaft by hand with the motor off is this normal? Also where it connects to the front differential it moves around a bit at the joints?

If you transfer case is in 2WD, and your front hubs are unlocked, your driveshaft should spin freely. But it sound like you have a problem at the differential/front U-joint.
