question about lining up tailgate posts

I have a question for you guys and girls. I'm redoing my floor and I got the tail pan in place (not welded) I put the tailgate posts in place and the drivers side lines up great. Bus as you can see in the photos the pass. side is off a little bit. There is a gap up top. plus the bolt holes don't line up all the way. But I know if I get the gap up top taken care of it should all line right up. What do I need to do to fix this? I'm going to be installing the tailgate....well mocking it up so that I know it's going to line up with everything. Wouldn't it suck to get everything together and welded up and go to install the gate and have it be off and not close. Thanks for the help
