question about rocks....

Umm, sure.

I don't even know what side drop rockwells are (I'm thinking the diff is centered front and rear. Regardless, as long as your u-joints can take the angle you can connect a passenger drop t-case to a driver drop axle or vice versa.

Diff is offset but can be pulled redrilled and flipped around to be centered. A lot of guys will do that when they put them in the rear. The axles can be used for a driver side drop or passenger side drop though.

well here is the way im seeing it...i was planning on getting a hp 60 for my truck..im having problems with that...i can basically get the set of rocks for what i can sell my 14bff for...so if i spent 14-1600 bucks on brakes for the street i would really be out that bad because its gonna cost me about 1400 for a hp 60...i know i still have to buy crossover and that stuff but i would have to do that anyway..

Things that make rocks questionable on the street:

Brakes. Pinion brakes are out of the question, you will have to convert to 4 wheel discs ($$).

You will probably want to convert to a normal wheel mounting pattern (6 or lug, I think). Custom wheels are $$.

They have stupid low gearing (6.72) and there are no other ratios available.

Rocks can be made streetable but not without spending a lot of money. I think you are better off spending your $$ on a set of axles that was intended to be used on the street.

I had a buddy that SFA a 94 2dr 4x4 explorer 4.0/5spd. Had just hydro assist/x-over steering. Had pinion brakes on it running 38.5 TSL/SX he would drive it around town just for fun. the tires stuck out like crazy. if your easy on the brakes it doesnt go nuts but slamming on them your in for a wild ride.

i would never drive on the street with pinion brakes...we are talking about one of the bigest concerns with saftey on your vehicle...

well as long as you dont half ass your driveshafts and build them with beef in mind you should have a problem. I dont see a problem running something like that down the street mainly b/c its not goin on a 500mile trip to the trail. Just a 15 min buzz to town and eat and back.

Pinion brakes work well but they get really hot really fast. They are not safe on the street.
x2 there was a thread on pirate the other day where a guy was looking for brake options after during his last trail ride, he was going down a long steep descent and experienced brake fade and had trouble stopping his rig.
