I am looking for some different opinions about the transmission and transfer case on my 1989 K5 Blazer Rock Crawler. Right now I have a 350 engine 700R4 transmission and a NP208 Transfer case all high mileage. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should replace them with? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Need more info - are you having problems that you want to get away from? Do you feel you need more gear? Stay with an auto or change to stick?

89 should have a 241. 700 and a 241 are the best geared combo for off road. 700 and 208 are very nearly as good.

Why the desire for change

This. If you aren't having issues, why replace things? :dunno:

For the minor leak, you can do anything from replacing a the failed seal to replacing all the wearing components in the case. But it's not a huge issue no matter how you slice it. Even a full t-case rebuild (overkill for just a leak) would be a whole lot easier than a full drivetrain swap. :dunno:
