Question!ClearGearz Differential Covers!!???

do-not-want.jpg

I have heard good things about the strength of the covers. My concern would be more about how they will look after a year of driving etc. The company web-site has language about how to treat scratches and that brake fluid etc. could tarnish the clairity.

Well, we all know that most of us don't change our diff fluid often enough and that being said, once your fluid becomes the least bit dirty, as it alway is when it's changed, you won't be able to see the internals unless the truck is not run for a length of time. Would be cool for a show truck.

I agree. I think they look cool but i can see them breaking really easily on the rocks. Mud may be a different story but definatly not in the rocks.

I think the clear cover would be funny on an old farm truck. The kind of truck that is neglected and the gear oil looks like diahhrea coffe:laugh:

The only way to be sure is for someone to buy it and test it out. I suggest taking an xtra cover and some diff fluid if testing offroad.

Four wheel & off road mag did an article some years back, and tested strength of several different diff covers.

They had an excavator (or track hoe) chip at each cover with the teeth on the bucket, and then ran over each of the diff covers.

As I recall, the clear gearz didn't fair so well - the article stated they thought it would be better with a ring gear behind it - but that just don't seem right...

The best one were the thick welded ones, and the cast stainless ones that were available for awhile with weird faces on them...

Anyway, my 2 cents...

I would of loved to see one of Kerts Razorback Covers on that test! Probably would of got pushed into the ground before it got dented.
