No replacement for displacement, go with the 6.0. :D

what kind of tranny?
(my vote is for the 6.0 anyway)

I worked for a company that had two chevy work trucks. Almost identical, except one had a 4.8L/4L60E, and the other had the 6.0/4L80E
I have friends that never liked the 6.0 because they said it "felt" slower than the 4.8
Under certain cituations this was true. The 4.8 loved to wrap up into the high rpms. But it did not have enough low end torque for any kind of truck I would build/own. any weight in the back (or towing) and it was bogged down.More of a sandrail kind of motor.
The 6.0 sometimes felt slower off the line. I think it was because of the tranny. The 4L80E is a big freakiin tranny and takes some HP just to operate it. And it's geared differently than a 4l60e (i'm pretty sure). Anyways, the 6.0 didn't even feel a moderate load behind it. Took hills like a champ, and was a monster if you were already rolling and put the pedal down. I would really like to get to drive both motors with the same tranny. The 6.0 would blow away the 4.8
The 4.8 was a 2004
The 6.0 was a 2006 - 300HP/325(?)foot pounds
I have never driven a 5.3 newer than 2004, but they have all felt a lot more like the 4.8 than the 6.0
The 5.3 likes to rev, but still feels like you are giving something up from your good old 350.
The 6.0 is better than any 350 I have ever owned, and any 4.8 or 5.3 I have driven.

I would rather spend the extra 200 bucks...
6.0
Even though it has more miles than the 5.3...
6.0
Even if I had to rebuild it in the not so distant future...
6.0

are either truck still drivable or have the engines already been pulled? i would go with the 6.0 if its in good shape and no problems

I have had both in 2 different trucks. Both are great but the 6.0 was just a fantastic engine. Granted there were 2 different types of trucks but the 6.0 seemed to have more power all the way through the powerband and 5.3 would need to rev up some. Is it a LQ9 or LS2?

If it is the LQ9 I would jump on it for sure. I'm pretty sure the LQ4 is not as desirable as the LQ9. I'd find that out first.

well they are the ls1 gen lll blocks they are out of trucks im guessing the 6.0 is all iron block and the 5.3 is a iron block with alunium heads

6.0 has much more potential too. With the 4.8 or 5.3 you are much more limited in valve size.
