ok so long story short i have a 10 bolt 8 lug front in my k5, the ball joints are shot, the outers are messed up (spindles etc), and now i cant get my steering arm off, so i broke the studs and still isnt off. i was going to run my 10 bolt till i could fine a dana 60, but it might be easier if i go and try and find one soon. how much you think i could find one for roughly and how much work do you normally have to do to them.

what would yall do? search d60 now (kinda limited in money but i could always save money up)

i would keep on trying to fix the 10 bolt untill you find a 60. expect to pay around $1000-$1200 for a 60. unless you find a real smokin deal.

what needs to be done to a 60? depends on what you find. mine came with a matching rear. so no gear swap. prob will need kingpin rebuilds and thorough wheel bearing/hub rebuild.

  fix the 10, you dont need a 60 w/ 33s stephen. Doesnt look like Im gonna make it up there tomorow, unless I get a magic cure for this wiring crap!

well the options have changed a little so see what yall think.

1. I can take my axle out and get the steering arm torched off and studs replaced. Get the ball joints replaced and get most of the outers fixed.

2. I can buy a 6 lug front 10 bolt and convert it to 8 lug.

3. i can try and find a dana 60 and 14 bolt matching combo with 4.56's and a detroit in rear, TRY and find being the key word and try and get enough money up to get it.

this coming summer i would either be buying bigger tires. 38's maybe or try and find the 14 bolt and dana 60 then.
so what yall think? try and fix mine and get dana 60 later (what im thinking) or just save money and leave 10 bolt as it is. which ever option i do being option 1 or 2 i can prolly lean towards option 1 because i have it lol. thx so much ck5 for the help

Oh well, thought I could help you out. I've got about 4 sets of 10bolts lying around but none with 3.73s. Fix the balljoints and studs on the 10bolt its alot quicker and easier than finding a D60 around here.

well with the 10bolt as is you cant drive it. That balljoint is about to come apart. You aint gonna be able to find/afford a 60, and even then 4.56 aint enough gear for 38s. Fix the 10, like I been sayin from the get-go.
