if you mess up the shift some how. i guess it could happen. the rpms go way up. could it blow apart?

ccatlett1984 said:doing that once or twice wont hurt anything, but repeadly doing that would be asking to break something in the driveline, when you unload the clutch like that its sending a hell of a shock through the drivetrain, and eventually something will break. Usually it ends up being a small, hard to get at, expensive part.

The engine will be fine since it has it's rev limiter, the governor.
The tranny could get hurt by dumping the clutch or trying to shift it by force with high RPM but the manual in the GM trucks is pretty tough so I would say no to both.
