question on 700r4

Can I turn my 89 k5 with a 350 tbi & 700r4 trans into carburated without doing anything to the transmission ?

you'll need to have the proper tv cable bracket for the carb... and properly set the tv cable.. or you'll nuke the trans in short order..

What does tv cable stand for ?

it stands for the life of your trans...

throttle valve... unlike earlier auto's kickdown cables that wheren't as critical, the tv cable in the 700 controls line fluid pressure, which is everything in that trans...

well, like I said, not to be ignored like you can a kickdown... it does much more than that, controls shift points, yada...

whatever carb your gonna run, just look on jeg's/summit for the appropriate tv bracket...

to set the cable, you depress the "D" button, press the sheath all the way toward the firewall, release the button.. operate throttle to WOT, the cable should click out a couple clicks.. release, done...
