I started to narrow my front clip this weekend. I am taking 9" off each side. I got the drivers side of the core support narrowed and reattached the section where the fender bolts up.

The problem is when I bend the fender over towards the core support it is 2-3 inches short of where it needs to be to bolt up. Do I need to move the fender forward at the firewall mounts or what?

I have not taken the fender off yet. I am thinking that I need to remove all the internal structure on the fender and maybe then I can get it to work.

The other option would be to move the core support toward the engine, but then the whole hood will be too long.

What have you done to get the fenders to meet up with the core support when narrowning the front clip.

What year clip are you using the early ones are a lot more difficult to narrow and require sectioning of the hood.
Post up a pic.

It is a 91 K5 front clip. I don't have any pictures as the wife wont let me use the camera when I am covered in dirt and sweat.

I just went out and measured and it is about 1.5 inches short. I may just mash it together and extend the mouning for the core support back to meet it. I still have to cut the inner fender out to make the bend easier, but that is not going to make it any longer.

I was trying to keep the headlights etc. I spent a whole lot of time narrowing the one side of the core support to keep the horizontal small rectangular lights. It was a real pain sectioning the core support to keep the headlight mounting points. I hope it was not for nothing.

move the core support back. That's what I did.

Kert,

When you moved the core support back were you still able to use the stock fan and shroud or did it have to be shortened / modified. I dont want to move one thing and end up having to modify 10 others things to make it work.

I could just make it fit. It wont be pretty, but that may be what I end up doing.
