I think I already know the answer, but want to be sure before I break something.
After the install of new tranny, I filled it with atf and was running the shifter through the gears to make sure everything was good and to move the fluid around and noticed trouble with putting it back in park. It made a clicking sound/feel. Don't worry didn't push it, dropped it to neutral and turned off the motor, then it shifted back fine.
Now I think the answer is that I was testing it without the drive shaft in so I think the tranny was turning in reverse not having any resistance from shaft and brakes it wouldn't allow the shifter to go into park.
I know it's totally neweb question, but tranny are a week point for me. Help appreciated thanks.
