when priming the system, everything i've read says disconnect the injector lines and remove the glow plugs and disconnect the pink wire from the IP. why do we disconnect the pink wire - what does that do?

The pink wire is power for the IP. When I primed mine I just cracked open 2 injectors and turned it over in short bursts, about 5-6 seconds each. It took me about 8 cycles to get it flowing. Started right up.

yeah, i'm familiar w/ the function of the pink wire, just want to know why everyone says to disconnect it while priming the system.

I would guess you wouldn't want the IP pumping dry. So let the mech. pump push fuel into it for lube I guess.

You only disconnect the pink wire to get fuel to the injector pump. Should only take 2-3 10 seconds of cranking. Like mentioned above it is to prevent the pump from running dry.
