Howdy everyone! I've been lurking here for a bit, but this is my first inquiry here.

I have a '79 Blazer that I will be restoring back to how my first Blazer that I had back in the 80's appeared. It will be Blue Metallic over white, with chrome body trim to delineate those colors. My questions is this, what is the correct color on the trim? All the replacement parts I find are with black paint, but I distinctly remember the trim color to be yellow. I even went back to find old pictures of my 1st Blazer, and indeed, the trim is painted yellow. I am waaaay ahead of myself on this part of the resto, but it has been bugging the hell out of me! Any and all help is appreciated!

I know you are right about the color . I worked for a chevy dealership at the time and remember blue vehicles had yellow . Good luck looking !!! You may have to buy used or you can buy rolls of pin stripping from auto parts stores in different widths and colors

Yeah, I figured if I could not find the correct trim, I'd have to paint it like my original. I did not think about pin-striping tape! That may be a much simpler solution rather than masking and painting. Thanks!

I'm 99% certain that the trim with yellow accent was a one year only thing (regardless of truck color) and all other years got black.

Agreed!
And 77 is the year for the yellow trim.

Yeah, I've seen that note on the '77 as well. Just weird that my 1st '79 had the yellow trim as well. I wonder if the factory just had extra left over, and used it as needed. I personally think the yellow trim looks better with the blue and white combo.

My k20 is a 77. Was a C10 body that I swapped onto a 1980 4x4 frame. It has all the trim but the PO scrubbed the yellow off of it! :doah: So now it’s just chrome.
I like the yellow too!
You could be right about your 79 with the leftovers. Never know?
