Can this motor be built for a tow rig or is it just a racing motor?

The LSX can be built for a tow rig, although it is a high rev motor. In the LS-7 configuration it can produce 300 lb-ft of torque at 3000 RPM so could be a great tow motor.

With a max. stroke of 4.5" and a max. bore of 4.5", that's alot of cubic inches :eek1: :eek1: :D !!

What makes it a high-rev. motor?

It is designed with a max RPM of 8 - 10 in mind. It really starts making power in the higher RPM range, but it all depends on how you build it. Like I said, I am basing it off the LS-7 configuration, and in that setup it produces 500 HP and 490 lb-ft of torque. But the torque really falls off above 3000 RPM, and the horsepower starts picking up. I really want to do an LS-7 for my K5, but the cost is a real killer. They are a great motor, but there is a lot of cost involved in getting one set up correctly.

Edit: Most of the parts I have seen are designed around race type applications, even though they have the low end grunt, they produce alot of power at higher RPM's. I haven't seen a lot of parts for lower RPM type applications with the LSX block. Others may have seen more.
