I have an 87 K5 with 350 tbi, 700r4, 3.08 and 33" tires. I want to put a 12bolt rear with 3.42 gears that I got from a 79 parts truck. front gears also. Will my performance increase or will it stay the same? I also have a th350 mated to a 203 x-fer case. could the x-fer case be mated to the 700r4 without troubles? Thank you for your help.

I'm not sure about mating the 700 to the 203, if it can be done I am sure that advance adaptors can tell you, and if they havent tried it yet they might be willing to try it for a price.

PS. changing gears you will definetely get better low end power and changing from a 10 bolt to a 12 bolt you will gain strength.

mudfan said it all. advance adapters will be able to answer the quetions, and anytime you change gears to a lower ratio (numerically higher) you will get better performance. my ford 9 had stock 3.08's and i put 3.55 in, and my mustang gt not only had improved acceleration, but i got better gas mileage.
