question.

In response to your question for the use of a rear Dana 60. I'll assume your talking about a rear full floating Dana 60. I had a Ford rear ffD60 from a 3/4 ton and a Chevy ff 14 bolt in my garage at the same time. IIRC the rear ffD60 shafts are 30 spline. Anyway, they are quite small compared to the ff14b shafts. The pinion shaft on the ffd60 is just tiny compared to the ff14b. The d60 has 2 pinion bearings and the ff14b has 3. The thick 4.88 ring gear in the ff14b dwarfs the ring gear on the ffD60.

The Chevy/GMC full floating 14 bolt from 3/4 tons are cheap and easy to find. Detroit lockers are cheap and easy to install. The gears are easier to set up. It's a very strong and well engineered axle.

Best to pass on the rear full floating 30 spline Dana 60.
