Hey folks!

Installing my ORD rear springs and new shocks in preparation for some wheeling at KOH. I'm trying to get a limit strap measurement so I can order them, for the top mounting location thought about a clevis mount going through the hole where the rivet is on the bump stop platform. Thought about some other locations on the side of the frame but a few things seem to be in the way and may not have enough time to order and weld on a clevis mount tube, besides, if this spot is fine, why not run it. I checked clearances, all good.....just wondering, will it be strong enough? Will it want to bend the bottom of the frame?....factory they mount the bump bracket to the bottom so should be ok?

It “might” be ok for low speed crawling, but Once you start going faster, I think it’ll start pulling the flange down.

Is there enough room for up travel? I did limiting straps for the first time last year. I got the fronts right the first time. The rears took three times before I got them right. The first try on the rears the upper and lower mounts ended up hitting each other.

I took measurements and it seems like the up travel should be fine without hitting.

Yeah, Ill definitely be doing more than low speed crawling haha so maybe I should just go w as solid a location as I can..

I looked some more this morning and found some perfect spots that don't interfere w the shocks or fuel lines inside the frame rail etc.. At just the right length too, no Clevis but not worried as there's a buffer built in. Matches up w how the front was done. If I have adjustment issues later I can weld in a tube for the clevis...done deal!

The straps stretch with use.
For sure this is good to consider, I gave myself about a 1/2" buffer for some extra stretch over time (also accounting for the 1" stretch at full droop), I'll check on 'em periodically and when adjustment is needed I'll spend the time and install Clevis mounts on all 4 corners.

Thanks guys

Do you have the Ord braces to make the upper shock mount pseudo double shear?

Yeah, I have those ready to install, just going to get everything back on 4 wheels making sure it all works and then put those in. They are a great idea. Funny thing is I beat on the Blazer for the past 8 years and no problems. Might as well future proof it though now while I'm swapping all the suspension out.

He said it. Now he is on a down hill slide into the money pit we have all been in.

Lol yes. It's like my tailgate, the handle broke and the regulator is all busted so I decided to restore it all, gutted it then while at it 'might as well' fix all the rust, do metal work, replace most of the components inside and paint, so like $700 in parts from LMC and who knows how many hours haha
