Never been, sounds interesting.

Can you dry camp at the trailer parking area near the trailhead?

At the end of the trail can I get back to my camper/trailer without going on pavement? (Run it backwards:dunno:)

How long will it take?

Thinking of heading up there Wed afternoon after stopping in Moab for lunch on my way from AZ.

I've only run it once and we didn't make it all the way to the end. For as far as we made it down the trail, there is an easy side road that runs up on a ledge above the trail that makes for a quick, easy return trip. If you make it all the way out the end, there are dirt roads to take back.

Not certain about the camping, but I believe you can. Others probably know the answer to that one. There's an open area where people park their tow rigs that I think you can camp in.

You can camp with truck and trailer out at the "trail head" Run trail, turn around back track and be back at the tow rig.

5 hours or so to run it depending on group size.

There are a few areas to play in that can easily increase that time frame. Last time I was on it was a long time ago but there were a few really raw areas that were basically big playgrounds that could take some time to get through.

OK, cool, thanks. I just need time at the end of the day to get over to BFE before dark. I'll be camping out at BFE Thursday night.

Just so everyone is aware this Trail has gone through some MAJOR changes over the last couple of weeks. Have fun in there but b Careful

He probably went out there and took a dump on one of the obstacles :haha:

Which may be an even scarier biological contamination problem......

What's up with the trail? I imagine the rain has been hard on it, did it wash out more road?

There are a few obstacles that are not there anymore. Yes they were washed out. Best to Call Jeff Bates he knows more. I have not been in there. HE has been walking it with the BLM. 970-858-1394

What? More info needed please... Washed out , or filled in? Is it harder, easier? Stephen, Do you know the Jeff that Tyrone speaks of?

Yes he does know him. Yes its harder. Some of the obstacles that were there arent there now or are much bigger. Washed out as in a TON of water and MAny things moved into new places.

Fred

21 road is the famous "dry wash" that honestly isn't so dry all the time. This is monsoon season up here and in some places it's been a good one. Sounds like they have had a few good flows run down the road in the last few weeks.

Bottom line is that it sounds like from other intardnet sources that some places are big, some are small and it will be what it is when we get there. There are either ways around places that washed out big time or more things ahead to play on for those that filled in.

My past experiences are that 21 road can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it, it's technical crawling with very few "climbs"

I'll give him (Jeff) a call and/or take a look over the weekend but it really doesn't matter a lot, this is standard operating procedure for this trail and is a big part of the fun. Just when you think you have it figured out, whammo, new stuff! It won't disappoint. There's one obstacle I can think of that's out of the wash that won't change and will be a fun little climb for those like Fred.
There's plenty of fun for full body trucks getting up the main wash and plenty of fun for buggies getting over the optional stuff.
