Alright, I'm showing my ignorance here. I have a few question's about the B-52 set up from DIY4.
1. would I get 6" of llift if I use them with their 6" shackle's?
2. If # 1 is true, what would be the best way to lift the rear?
3. Do I use stock rear 52" springs up front with the B-52's?
4. How do you know the best position to put the front spring's in?
5. Do I need to do something to the rear mount of the front spring?
If any one doesn't mind, could you kinda go through the process on this thread or let me know of a thread that probally already cover's this?
Thank you for any help/Idea's you can give me. Like I said before, I'm not new to the 4x4 world, I've built Jeeps,Bronco's and PU truck's, just never a Blazer and my 83 K5 is my next project.

No. You would need 2" lift 52" springs to get 6" of lift (or 10-11" shackles which are probably a bad idea)

2. If # 1 is true, what would be the best way to lift the rear?

Most people use a shackle flip and 2" lift springs.

3. Do I use stock rear 52" springs up front with the B-52's?

You can, but they will only get you ~4" of lift.

4. How do you know the best position to put the front spring's in?

I'm not sure about that, you may have to get the springs on the truck and then decide if you want to move the front mount. Talk to Kurt (the owner of DIY4x), I'm sure he can help you out.

5. Do I need to do something to the rear mount of the front spring?

You don't have to but much of the ride improvement and flex come from moving the rear mount forward (which drastically helps the shackle angle).

What's your intended use (i.e. tire size, terrain, etc.). I would really recommend staying at 4" of lift or lower. Also, with 52's in the front you will need crossover steering.

1. b-52's and stock springs net ~4" lift depending on condition of springs. adding leafs or a zero-rate could get you closer to 6" lift
2. to get 6" lift out of rear, shackle flip + stock springs and add-a-leaf or zero-rate
3. yes you can, you can also use 56's as well. with 52's u usually need to move the rear shackle mount forward to get a better angle. this is not necessary with 56's.
4. you do that by personal preference, do you want the axle more forward to closer to stock location?
5. if 52's usually yes, if 56's usually not. mentioned above

haha beat me to it chris

No you will get around 4-5 inches of lift.

2. If # 1 is true, what would be the best way to lift the rear?
If you are using your stock rears up front then lift springs would be in order. If not then a shackle flip will compliment the 52's nicely.

3. Do I use stock rear 52" springs up front with the B-52's?
Yes

4. How do you know the best position to put the front spring's in?
Trial and error. All of them will work the choices are for tuning the shackle angle.

5. Do I need to do something to the rear mount of the front spring?
I have heard both ways. I believe most people move it forward to eliminate the shackle being vertical after the swap.

Keep in mind the 52" spring swap is not just a cheap way to get lift. It is to achieve better travel than common lift springs. With greater travel come the need for longer shocks and extended shock mounts, long travel drivelines, high angle drivelines, crossover steering is a must. Read that first link. It should take you most of the day and you will know most everything we know about the swap. There is also a tech article on the front page under tech articles I believe jekbrown did it.

Thank-you for all the info. To answer some of the question's,I plan on running 35x12:50x15's on 8" black rock crawler's. I'm not going to be rock crawling up here in Wisconsin, so more for hunting, trail, and some mud and DD. Right now my K3500 is my work truck (Cement Contractor) and DD. I don't mind fender trimming. Can I do the cross over steering and still keep the stock axle's or do I need to up grade? I do plan on regearing the axle's any way. I have a 350/700R4/stock x-fer case and axle's right now. Plan on swapping the 700R4/203 for SM465/205 I already have sitting on the garage floor.

35s will be fine for stock axles, but that will turn into another debate as the axles are weak and people have broken them with stock size tires

If I were you I would just buy 4" lift springs for the front and a shackle flip for the rear and use whatever steering correction the lift manufacturer recommends.

For what you are doing with the truck I don't think you need crossover steering or 52" springs in the front.

Also, what gears do you have now? The 465 doesn't need doesn't need to be geared as deep as a 700R4.

Gears are 3:42. After you mention it, I could probally get away without regearing. My 81 CJ-5 has 3:50 gears and a TBI 304/SM465/300 and 33x12:50x15's on it and I've never had a problem with it.

thats alot of work for just a 35 inch tire in a DD hunting rig... since your not against cutting the fenders...I would second what 1977K5 said. "get a good set of 4 inch lifted springs for the front and shackle flip the rear". down the road if you wanna go with a bigger tire than 35s..then just cut the fenders to fit the tires..4 inch springs and a shackle flip will give you more than enough of what you need for what you said you want to do with your rig...The B52 set up really shines and is designed for when your running big tires with lots of flex from longer springs and you need to move the front end forward because your tires are into the firewall/body mount at full bump.
