So, a little background on the question I have first. I went to an event this weekend with the k5, it was up in the rocks in the hill country of texas. Mind you, its pretty much totally stock, except for 40" tires. Anyway, some things were suggested to make my rock crawling experience a little easier for next time, and I have some questions now.

Here goes:

1. Its a 79 k5, 5.7L v8, TH350 trans. What transfer case do I have? 203? or 205?

Actually, thats it.

Do you have front hubs? what does your transfercase shifter look like?

203 pattern is below

Low-lock
low
Neutral
high
high-lock

i have manual locking hubs up front, and my shifter looks like the diagram you posted. sucks. any idea if a twin stick kit is available for it?

EDIT:
Nevermind, I'm retarded. if I would learn how to scroll down on ORD's website, I'd see the twin stick kit for the 203.

Yes, you can twin stick a 203 but probably not in a kit it would be a DIY thing. Try google.

Twin stick is available, and if it moves in high and low, then its been part time converted.

That's right, we can twin stick the 203! You get rid of the trouble prone and typically worn out factory shifter box and replace it with 2 levers for much more positive gear selection. One lever will shift the case through Hi-N-Lo and the other will control the differential lock, or on cases converted to part time, the other lever will control 2WD-4WD. This shifter can also be converted to a Doubler shifter with a simple linkage change. Available for GM, Ford and Dodge.
