I need a bigger alternator for some other things in my 71 (details in sig), and was curious what kind of alternators you guys are running... also, How would I bypass my voltage regulator?

Remember, this is my DD, and i really dont wanna fock anything up... :doah::haha:

thanks in advance!

I put a one wire, 100 amp Powermaster from Summit in my 72. Very easy swap, just a matter of bolting it on and running a heavy guage wire to the battery, then eliminating or tying off the original wiring that you just made unnecessary. Its internally regulated, so you get rid of the external regulator. If you do a search on it you'll find that some people like them, some people really don't. 2 drawbacks are that you can't get them at the local parts store in BFE, and you're going to have to change your amp guage to a voltmeter.

No specialty brackets or anything?

You can also use a 90 amp alt from an 80's suburban. It bolts right in and you can use a conversion wiring harness (LMC, brothers, etc) for pretty cheap so you don't have to cut any wires to bypass the external regulator. That's what I'm using in my 71.
