Questions for street driving with Detroit Lockers

In 5 years of street driving with my Detroit I had it go 'bang' on me maybe 6 times total. Never broke anything, and aside from those rare occasions it was civil, and quiet.

ok, thanks. I was getting worried that purchasing a detroit for my dd was a bad choice.:wink1:

I know my friends truck with the lock right was extremely harsh and he ended up selling it a couple weeks after he bought it.

So far my Detroit is nearly invisible, unless I get on it in a turn, or mostly in the parking lots.. :D No noise, no banging, nothing. Little bit of wiggle on crowned roads if I get on it and get off in a straight line, not bad at all.

LockRights in my old M725 were waaaaaaaay worse, clicking and banging and jerking that thing all over the place. :D

And the traction on the trail is AWESOME. Do it. :D

i just drive mine like a race car, locker is better in every way than open, except for the backlash

i had a lockrite in my 10b it sucked... i sheared the pins in it then replaced those then sheared off all the teeth then put in a 14bff with a detroit and no complaints since

I have only sean on crazy Detroit ffailure and that was this year at BB Oatsk5 Detroit took a nap. Held together but the center teeth took a crap.

as far as noises go, has anybody noticed a difference with different gear oils (synthetic, weight, etc)?

i already have a stock dd, so i dont really care if its loud... just curious?
