Hi all! We installed a manual trans into our 1988 K5 blazer which was an auto and has a 350. We obtained all the parts from a 1985 or 6 blazer. We installed it all and seem to have a bum transmission. We had a NV 3500 fully rebuilt and were going to install in but I had the idea to go old school and original.

We used all the 1985/6 blazer stuff (clutch master cylinder, pedals, steering column etc. if we wanted to go to the NV3500 what would be needed to change. I assume the clutch master and slave would be different but what clutch, pressure plate and flex plate? The 350’s? Does it use the blazer’s pedals? I would assume so. Also I have heard that this NV3500 is the same length as the 700R4 and the SM 465.

Also do you use the manual C2 205 transfer case?

Thanks for the help!

John

Internal or external slave nv3500?
Flywheel and clutch can be for an 86 k5/10 series.
You will be better off using a np208 or 241 behind it.
The clutch master works just fine, slave will depend on what style trans it is.

i made a mistake. it is a 208 C2 style.

awesome on the clutch and flywheel!

it is an internal slave cylinder. i saw a video of a guy who did this switch and he used a clutch master from a 1986 one ton and put a different fitting on the internal slave cylinder and attached a line to the one ton's line from the master. i think that this is the way we will go. then this is just trans swap.

Please pardon my ignorance but what is a “C 2 style” T-case ?
Probably NP208C. The only thing to watch is spline count when swapping the pass drop NP208 onto the NV3500. S10 versions are 27 spline like the 700R4 but the fullsize trucks are 32 spline.

That was the closest thing that I could come up with too - but the single digit “2” was throwing me off.

I am not arguing it but it seems weird that it only came in half ton trucks because it's light duty and half tons got 27 spline tcases, why did they change?
