Ok, i have my eye on a few trucks, to buy, whats the easyest way to ID a d60 from the outside carrier??? Withought telling people to remove the cover?? Is there a way i could have them measure the carryer??? Count the bolts??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Here is the truck, it has a clutch, 14 bolt, no emblems to tell what it is..... has locking hubs up front(not full time 4x4 )lonbed, i dont know anything more.

A 60 front?

Just look for kingpins instead of ball joints /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

kingpings, 3 ubolts/2bolts as opposed to the D44/10 bolt 4 ubolts. there are 10 bolts on the cover, which is the case with all front axles. as for the bed, they're an easy swap. it could be a 73 bed on a 91 truck, they all bolt up. what year is the truck in question? 60s werent offered until 1977.

if i had to guess based on those pics, Id say no...the K30's seem to sit up a little higher. of course, this is just a guess .

I dont think the guy could handle all of that /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif cant you just measure the housing somehow???? The housing on a 60 is bigger than a housing on a 44 ,no? Also, it has 8 lugs, what does that make it?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

measuring a housing for differences seems harder than couting u-bolts or looking at steering components.

a D44 and D60 were both offered in 8 lug configurations

Ok, but the people dont know this sort of stuff, i need the easyest way over the phone /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i would think the 3 u bolt method would be easiest for the over the phone thing...

yeah...my vote is for the ubolts...if these people dont know the diff between kingpins and bj, then they probably wont know what the steering linkages are /what they look like.

or see if the 44 or 60 is legible in the webbing to the lower right hand side of the pumpkin.

Thanks, im sort of a dense fawker, so you may have to run it through a few times /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif Can someone giva a pic on this??? A pic would be great!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

THAT IT DOES, and it was confirmed over the phone, whatever that means /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
