Would anyone know, or be able to measure for me, the distance between the fenderwells on a normal squarebody fleetside bed? I'm thinking it's like 50" but not sure:dunno:

I'm picking one up tomorrow and need to know if it'll fit on my trailer with it's wheels in the wheel wells or if I have to block it up.

i always take a few big tires with me to space up and off trailer . . .

but i just did a quick check the best i could with frame in the way somewhat and i got just under 50" wide inside to inside of wheel wells .

Sweet, thanks.. my deck width is 50" and tire center to center is 66... So I'm hoping they ride right in the fenders like stock lol. Luckily I haven't put fenders on the trailer yet

I'm not sure if there's any tires around the shop or not... I think I might just take 2 4x6s and the chain saw just in case there's unforseen issues. It's 2 hrs from home

my 2wheel burn build i picked up the 6ft box with a specific built motor cycle hauler trailer built for just hauling a bike . did 2 31" tires and 4 straps . did a almost 2hr drive my self no problems.

i know a guy who use to go get them with 2 straps and 4 sticks of wood for the stake pocket holes . flip them upside down set on and strap and go .

I've hauled 2 beds home that way--I had an 8 foot fleetside and was buying the same type bed to replace the rotted ones on the trucks, and one seller had 4 strong friends handy, they just lifted the other bed upside down and lowered it over the wood stakes I brought with me..
Strapped it down with a ratchet strap, and off I went..

The other guy I bought the other bed from had an engine crane we used to load it,but it didn't go quite high enough to get the bed up higher than the stakes, so we laid the bed on mine without the stakes, then had to lift it up a foot or so more ourselves,to get the stakes in the pockets,we lifted one side at a time..

One other bed I bought ,I took my bed off my truck, then drove it to the guys house who sold me his,and we plopped it on with 2 bolts to get it home..the bed was off an '80 pickup, and I put it on a '71 K1500 GMC,it looked a bit weird, but the bed bolt holes lined right up and the tail light harness plugged right in and worked too, much to my surprise!.

you need a zero rate to center the axle up . . . . .

how much you pay for the box ? . . . . . mine up here in the north east i got from a guy who brings up boxes from the south and i paid 800 no tailgate as i had a primo unit already . i still had to fix rust on mine and a big goober on the lower side .

It was centered up before we moved but the front straps pulled it up some.. had to add a strap pulling backwards.... Originally the back straps we're just pulling down cross wise. This is how it sat the rest of the way home. The tires are set like there FOR that bed lol

And I paid $250 for it
