alright, ive got my rear on tires and the front on stands. the front calipers are jus chilling on the leafs. i need to swap out my rear yoke on the 14b, and was wondering if having someone press on the brake while i remove the yoke would be ok for the brakes? then i could jus use a clamp to push the piston back. is that ok, or not? thanks.

Not with your calipers laying loose on the front springs. You will push your caliper pistons right out of their bore.

so they will just come all the way out? what if i clamped both calipers so the pisons couldnt move?

maybe ill just wait til i get my axle back, if that ever happens.

Clamp them, or stick a 2x4 in there with the pads so that the piston won't come out more than 1/4".

one problem..

Blocking or clamping the calipers will let you use the brakes...trouble is,there is so much gear reduction at the pinion yoke you cant really keep the wheels from turning, even with the brakes on hard in many cases..GM made a special wrench that the yoke fit into to hold the pinion still while the nut is removed or installed..I've used a big pipe wrench on the outside of the yoke instead, let it hit the ground to keep the yoke from turning, with good results.....
