Quick Brake Question

Hey yall, gettin ready to take my math final /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif but after Im goin to go look at a buddies 86 P/U. He said the brake pedal goes right to the floor. Im thinkin the MC is gone. Just want some other ideas and stuff to check. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Sounds like the MC to me

Assuming he has lining left on his brakes, he could have a popped rear brake cyl, caliper, or line. I had a rear cyl fail once. Otherwise, sounds like MC.

Alright, I drove the thing and here's the rundown: The brakes come and go, sometimes good sometimes bad. Sometimes pumpin them works, other times it didnt. Called a co-worker back home at the shop just to confirm that it would prob be the MC and went a got one from Advance. Anything special I need to know when Im puttin it on, tricks/procedure wise?

sounds like a master..remove the old master, install the new one, bleed the master, then bleed the lines..starting with the rr, then lr, then rf, then lf..bleed each one REALLY WELL /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Should I bench bleed the master or just do it on the truck?

no, any poppage won't lose pedal pressure- little thing called a proportioning valve /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif i ran with no rear brakes- open lines, for a month (1-2 miles at a time.)
