On my 87, the gas pedal seems very stiff....this is not really a problem on the highway because the stiffness leads to a makeshift cruise control (my cruise has been removed). However, at slow speeds and offroading, it makes it too easy to overdo the throttle.

Is this a normal feel for these old K5's or is there something I can apply lube to? I wanted to ask first before I started spraying lube everywhere on the throttle assembly and cause some kind of additional problems.

Thanks!

It should feel smooth thru the full range of motion.

My guess is the throttle shaft (shaft with the butterflies) in the throttle body is gummed up with fuel residue causing it to stick (I used to see this a lot at a Toyota dealer I worked at). I'd get some carb cleaner (not lube) and clean it both inside and out.

Worn out throttle cable? I had this problem in my carbed 85 and I replaced the cable that went through the firewall and it helped a bunch

spent the money on a Lokar unit, OOOH dear lord it makes love to my foot :)

Stop by a motorcycle dealership and see if they have a cable luber clamp thing. It clamps to the end of a cable, creating a tight seal, and you spray some kind of cleaner like WD40, then a lube.
