Quick kingpin rebuild question!

Mine came with gaskets, but I imagine a small bead of RTV will work just fine.

No need to seal the lower plate, The grease travels through the lower kin pin into the roller bearing and is contained in the knuckle of the axle via a grease seal, It should not be making it all the way down to the lower portion. The paper gaskets go on the top under the steering arm and cap on top of the knuckles

I was refering to the lower dust caps that go in the hole before the lower kingpin bearing race. I went ahead and put a little rtv around the dust cap to keep chit out.

Those do not use any kind of sealer. Since you did use RTV i would certainly wait until the RTV has set up before installing the lower bearing retainer so as to not get any RTV in the bearing.

I personally use rtv as I don't want any water/mud going around the dust cap. Small amount of rtv on the dust cap, install the bearing race excess rtv will be forced out the opening in the bottom of the knuckle.
If there were any excess rtv to enter the area around the bearing race you would be able to see it immediately.
