Quick Lockright Install Question

Black/Grey/white container aeresol spray black RTV . 11 bucks and never have to deal with spreading the proper bead again .

And it makes a Blue Torch Fab cover stick so you have to pry it off , even with the bolts removed .... and this cover is ****in' heavy

Wow. Sounds pretty good to me. Can't believe I haven't even heard of this. Where can I get it? Auto Zone er whoever? And do you tape off the cover er how do ya keep from having overspray on eveything?

Whatever u use be sure to torque the cover bolts down to specs. IIRC 28Ft lbs.
The cover is a important part of the integerity of a 10 bolt. Properly torqued. A 10B is stronger and will help keep 10Bs together under stress. Not torqued, the case can spread causing bad things to happen

Yeah thanks Thunder. I'll keep it that in mind. I'm generally pretty strict about keeping to torque specs. It's just good piece of mind or in this case more!

Redwookie, you said you put a locker in the back already? Was this for a 10B? If so what did you use and what are your thoughts on it. I'm thinking of doing the same since I might keep the 10B's for a while longer. Thanks.

I haven't put one in the back because I have a 14bolt waiting to be put in the rear. I haven't put it in yet because of money and time issues. What I do have in the back is the stock 30 spline 10 bolt and it came w/the factory locker (gov bomb). I haven't had any problems with it so far but as far as my understanding it's only a matter of time if you wheel hard/have big tires. I've got 35" and wheel fairly hard soo... But yeah I put a lock-rite in the front. So sorry I can't exactly address your question but what I can tell you is that first, it was an easy install I did on my own in an hour and half or so. Second, w/ the new front locker+ the rear gov locker the truck is like a whole new vehicle. I haven't met an obstacle yet that it didn't fly right up. So I know a lot of people say to lock the rear first but I think you should consider the following when making your decision: are you gonna need a whole new 10 bolt in the rear? My understanding is that if you have the gov locker from the factory you have to ditch the whole rear end and get a 10 bolt that came open in order to put a locker in it. Which IMO means you might as well get a 14 bolt cuz they're cheap and plentiful. Next, how long are you gonna keep the rear 10 bolt? The front 10 bolt while not super strong is inherantly stronger than the back b/c it's a semi floater and replacing the front 10 is way more expensive than the back. So I made the decision to keep the rear 10 as is and wheel it till it breaks than 14 bolt. So since I'll be keeping the front 10 quite a while longer/and it's stronger, I decided to lock the front end and replace parts on it with upgrades as they break (i.e. chromoly axles etc..). So like I said before the set up I'm running now has been awesome and I think it makes some sense as far as upgradeability and so forth. Hope I helped some even though I didn't exactly answer your question:D

Well it didnt answer it entirely, but it helped. I dont have a govlock on mine, its just an open diff. I'm keeping the 10B for a while longer because I have 33's and really dont wheel it hard enough to need a heavier axle at this time. Eventually it will have a 60 or 14B, but there is no need for it at this time and after doing a little wheelin this past weekend, I realized I need traction before I get too carried away with other upgrades.:D

Well that's good news. We don't want those Heep guys thinking they're the only ones that can wheel, of course it's a Heep thing and we wouldn't understand anyways. But my last .02 cents on it. Freakin A lockers make a HUGE difference in the capabilities of your ride. Oh and also I still say put one up front first for the reasons stated above.

I kept up with the Heeps though! And they were running lockers and lifts!:D
