Quick question about TBI years

Yup they used it until 95ish when the Vortec came out in the fullsizes, but in our body style yeah till 91.

There was also a TBI Vortec motor, this is why the Vortec TBI intake exists.

In any case, solid axle US trucks were TBI 1987-1991.

There were some exceptions apparently, (carbs lasted a bit longer than that in some, but not K5) but they must be pretty darn rare.

I think the pickups didnt switch to tbi till early 88 when they switched to the new body style/new design. not 100% sure though

Naw they put TBI in the '87 pickup trucks ('73-'87 body style). It was the last year for that body style in most of the lighter-duty pickups. Then by '92 the whole lineup was switched over to GMT400.

Are you sure? I saw an 87 c10 that was oringinal owner that was carb. sure it wasn't a mid model year switch over?

I've always understood ot to be common knowledge that all '87 trucks had TBI. Every '87 I've ever seen had TBI. I guess I can't rule out the possibility that maybe some of the lowly models (such as a C10) may have had carbs leftover from the '86 model year. Unless the guy is reading his vin tag wrong and misjudging his truck's model year based on the actual build date. I've seen that happen too. Hmmmm. Anyone else? Dorian (dyeager535) what do you think?

According to my sources, the TBI was an upgrade option over the base model carburetor for at least the first few years. It was a very popular option so the carbed motors aren't very common, especially after 20 years.
