if i take out the eletrical one and put in a Mech. onewill that affect the FI? i guess my question is Is the temp guage read by the comp.?

No. CTS for the computer is totally seperate from the gauge.

The sensor for the FI is in the intake manifold, the one for the gauge is in the drivers side head.
