Quick question for guys with 6.2's!

Stupid NEWB question! So I'm doing an oil change and forgot to prime the oil filter. Right now, the level is slightly over full with 7 qts of oil. I tried cranking the engine over for 10 seconds to prime the oil filter to no avail. I want to check and make sure I'm not going to air-lock my oiling system by turning the engine on....

So, can I fire it up and let the engine run to purge the air, or do I need to pull the oil filter back off and prime it manually?

As long as you don't rev it up, I don't think you'll have a problem. There are plenty of vehicles that you cannot put oil in the oil filter after a change. Now, I don't know how big the filter on the 6.2L is, but I run the PH8A/FL1A/PL30001 large Ford oil filter on both my Jeeps. The filters mount horizontally and you cannot fill them before you put them on w/o soaking the start in oil. It only takes a few seconds to get oil pressure back. If you don't rev it up, the film of oil already in the bearings will hold it over till it's bled out.

as stated above. The 6.2/6.5 in the newer ifs bodies had the filter horozontal.
