Still shopping for a work truck. Ive seen two light duty 6 lug 2500s so far. Im curious if they are a stick is it an NV4500 or an NV3500? Also is it still a 3/4ton capacity frame?

I had one. Mine had a 700r4. Was 7200gvwr iirc. From what I could tell, it was just a half ton with the sf14 bolt, and maybe one more leaf in the spring pack.

my dad had a 88 GMC C2500....it was exactly the same suspension/axle as my 85 C20 was...14bsf 3.73, his truck had a longer leaf pack, but same 7200gvw rating. mine was originally 305/700R4...his a TBI 350/700R4

Half tons could get the 4500, had to order the trailering package to get it I believe. The 6 lug 3/4ton is basicly a half ton with a better rear axle and couple more springs in the pack...from my understanding. I'd assume the both the 3500 and 4500 could be had in the 6 lug trucks, since they were both offered in the half tons. Only way to be sure is to crawl under and look. Or drive itn 4500 has a creeper gear.

It's a half ton with a larger rear axle and bigger springs. I have one with a 700

Iv'e seen more "heavy half" 2500s with the 3500 over the 4500. There is a junkyard that I go to that has a 94 with the 4500, wanted to grab it but never have enough tools or time, since I am working when I go there.

Yeah the guy was really responsive with me. Said he was asked the same thing and couldnt remember whats trans it was but it drives normal and has an integrated bell. I said damn thats the wrong trans, sorry not interested.

I guess I'll keep the 6 lug option open. NV4500 is really my only must have. Its going to get a ford dana 60 down the road so the weaker IFS doesnt bother me.

I have heard the W/T trucks had the v6 and got a nv4500 .

my buddy got the tranny from 1 of these trucks .

Well it looks like Im gonna pick up the LD2500 anyway. I need a truck really bad and the guy already fixed the rockers and cab corners on this one. 350/nv3500/241. I kinda drew the line at "I need a ****ing truck right now" when I had a mini excavator bucket in the back of my wifes grand vitara today to bring to my shop to fix...

I can always swap an nv4500 in later and the pedal/hydro is already there.

This is true. I verified this on a 2wd 1/2 ton v6 with vin Z (4.3) and RPO MT8 (nv4500)

was baffled at it, but it was sweet at the same time!

good luck with the truck search. yea at least a 4500 will be a easy swap if you get a NV3500 truck. If you end up needing a 32 spline input for the t-case, let me know.

I believe even the nv3500 from the fullsize has a 32spl input to it.
