When you just turn the electricity on and not the ignition and you can hear a fan spinning. What is the name of that fan?

yeah thats it lol, a heater fan, and my turns on unconditionally when the fan is on all the way low it doesnt blow air through the vents it just spins and you can hear it. So the second part of the quiz is why wouls it be screaching on startup sometimes?

Nope.......I'm almost positive that the older Chevs didn't have an off position for the fan. It had something to do with maintaining "positive pressure" in the cab to keep outside dust from coming in through cracks.

So, it's probably the blower fan on low(which was as low as it went).

The noise is bad bushings. Mine sqwalled last winter on really cold days until it warmed up. At 2:00 am when your feet are frozen in the sleeping bag and it's the only source of heat for miles, the sqwalling sounded like a belt ready to let go. Started out real low, but was amplified on a really cold morning in the woods. Bought a new one (about $16) and it cured it.
