I read the Technical Article on the Quick Release Door Hinge Pins in that article he states "I used a Sawzall to cut the Pin in half then pushed the lower cut portion out of the bottom and the top out of the top."

Well I have cut my Hinge Pins and been trying to push, hammer or what ever I can think of to get them out and they just aren't coming.

Who on here has done this???
What did you do to get the pins out???
Has anyone one had this problem???

Please let me know any tip and pointers will help.

Thank you for your time

! have done this and basicaly its just as you said, once you have it cut in half they should come right out, just keep trying i guess. But one thing i would advice is that when u get new hinge pins make sure theyre exactly like the originals, if theyre even a bit undersized your door will sage and youll have to do alot of adjustments to get it to not scrap when you close it. Good luck hope it all works out!

Mine were tough aswell, just keep at it. Try not to swell the cut off end with prying, it will make it tougher to get out. I know, I know, easier said then done.

rdn2blazer so what was the final solution on getting your pins out? What steps did it take you?

Thank you for the help

If the door is still attached, the weight of it will muck things up. You could remove the door, or you may find that the bottom pin will come out easier than the top. At the very least, support the door and wiggle it a bit.

NB: It's been years since I did mine, and I've since gone back to regular hinges and half doors, so take what I say with a small bag of salt ;)

I going to be trying again after work today. Does anyone else want to chip in there advise??? Any Tips help!!!

Thank you

i had this problem with one of the pins when i did it, i ended up grinding the head off cuz nothing else was working.

Pics of where you're at would help. Were you able to get the top half out or are they both stuck? Are they completely seized or do they wiggle but not slide up and down?

Does Griding the head off help get them out???

Im at work right now so I can't post Pics. The top half is the harder of the two when I tey to remove them and the pins do move up and down I just can't get them out.

Well here we go again, I going to try to get the pins out. I will come up and check if anyone has added advice if I continue to have problems.

Thank you for the tip and help

Could you grind them flat with the hinge plate and them tap them out with a punch? Or drill 'em out?
