So guys I just bought a th350 from a 73 4x4 pickup to put in my 76 k5 and for some reason the shift linkage doesn't want to slide into the shifter on the tranny. Are the shifters different on different year turbo 350's? Can someone explain this? Thanks. I'm putting the tranny in and have everything done but the shifter.

Come on boys I need help. I'm trying to figure out if I can make it work with my factory column shifter or do I need to whip up a ghetto floor shifter, this trucks gotta be ready to go wheeling on Sunday. Thanks yall.

any pics of your issue?

I have the th350 setup with the stock column shifter in my truck and don't recall any different shift linkage versions.

Edit with a pic I found from another member

Yah I know how it goes in its just it seems like park on my new tranny is farther back then the old one so they don't line up. Are the shift linkages in these trucks adjustable?

Yes,at the steering colum end of the linkage there is a pinch bolt you can loosen and slide the linkage up or down as needed to get it aligned right..
But that shouldn't have moved--if the "new" transmission had a different lever on the shifter shaft than your original then it would have to be re-adjusted ,or your old lever swapped onto the tranny..

I'm gonna adjust it tomorrow, hoping that works. I already swapped the shifter piece from the old tranny onto the new one. Just for some reason they don't line up. Close but no cigar. Hopefully adjustment will make it work.
