My buddy tows with his...I think it is a 2000. He has a 7Klbs trailer and I think his K5 is on 38s. Now it's not as sweet of a ride that a diesel will give you and hills can be a bitch but all in all you can doit as long as the hitch & trailer you are using is up to the task also.

Do you have tandem trailer brakes and the correct GVW rating?
Tires rated for that kind of load/usage?
Trailer WIDE enough to fit the K5 on?
If everything checks out, then it's only a matter of how soon do you need to be there?
I'd say sure but drive knowing your at the high end of what your 1500 truck is designed for/can handle.
