Quick trans/t-case question

Friend of mine asked me a question that I wasn't sure about, but figure someone on here would be :haha:

[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]"For a non-lockup 4x4 TH350 to take a NP208 transfer case, I am under the impression that the output shaft has to be longer than a normal 4x4 TH350."

I believe he's swapping the 700r4 out of an older S-10 in favor of a TH350, but wants to keep the 208 under there. Is this what he'd need to accomplish that?

unless he put it in there, s10's never came with 208's. they came with 207's and 231's. also, it may not make a difference, but s10 t-cases are 5 bolt on the adapter end. so a factory adapter may or may not work. i dont know about the tranny end of the adapter.
 
That's what I though, driver's drop, right? I've owned 2 4x4 S-10s and yet I didn't know what case came with them. Doh.
 
yeah, all drivers drop. 207's came in them till about 88 or so. then 231's untill they went push button.
