Looking at an '81-'87 K10 on Monday and the bench seat is trash.

Found a '73-'80 bench seat on Craigslist that's in really good shape.

Will it bolt right in?

Those were flat floors and didn't tip forward. You can bolt it in but you will need to make mounts for it in the floor.

Wish you were closer, I'm getting rid of mine and it's in good shape. :(

Bring it to Moab...

The '81-'87 has a flat floor?

I had a '76 SWB K10 and I remember it steeping up from the floor pan to the back of the cab, like a raised platform for the seat.

no no, didn't the older blazer have a flat floor from the back of the front seats to the tailgate? It had the raise up, but a lot closer to the front seats than the 81-91 floor. I think those got the fixed bench seats. You can add the new seat in, but you will need to work on the front floor mounts and install the pins in the floor for the rear mounts. It's worth it just to tilt the seat forward.

But in the title, he said truck seat, not K5.

I seem to remember that the seats will interchange, but there is something different in the cushion height, however I don't remember the details.

I was doing some reading up and from what I gather the '73-'80 pickup seats sat a little lower that the '81-'87 seats.

I couldn't find anything on if they were interchangeable or not.

I know where I can get a leather CUCV bench for free (which I'll probably pursue before buying the Craigslist one)... can't remember the condition of it though, I seem to remember the pivot point that holds the bottom cushion and back cushion together not being able to keep the back cushion up in a locked position (broken). Gonna assume that I could swap those parts out off of the seat that is currently in the K10 onto the CUCV bench.

I was thinking you might be able to unbolt your existing seat tracks and swap them to the older seat ?..they probably will bolt up--I would think they would just alter the seat track to floor bracket height to compensate for the different floor height, not the whole cushion, but who knows...I never tried swapping an early square body seat to a later cab..

The seat in the truck I might be purchasing is shot. I got on Craigslist and found a seat from a '76 or so.

Then I remembered about the CUCV th that I have access to. If I remember correctly the leather is in really good shape and I would rather have leather over cloth. Hopefully I can fix it up, the hinge or lock or whatever it is that's broken.

You mean vinyl, and as far as I could ASSUME, the seat should bolt it. All years of square body TRUCKS had saddle tanks. Which mean all are raised floor. So truck seat to truck seat should interchange.
