Hello,

Anyone know what size socket is needed for the stock ubolts? I started my lift install tonight but I've been held up by the damn ubolts. The truck is a 77 K10 with stock running gear. Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

Sweet thanks. I'm off to pick up a deepwell from Sears tomorrow, I'm planning on using a grinder to take off the old ubolts. Any problems I might run into doing this?

Thanks again,

Jason

just remember those ubolts are under alot of pressure, ive cut them before and had the ends shoot up like a bullet. now usually when i cut them i will cut them down around the bend a bit and not on the side. like cut them about 1/2-3/4 inches where they start to bend, that way when they snap they snap sideways and dont shoot up at you. it still makes me jump when those things break

oh yeah forgot about the rust thing. i just took a stock steering arm off a 73 in 20 minutes. sorry guys!

yeah give it a try, might have to break them loose with a breaker bar first. before i had a cut off wheel i used to just put the socket on and get a long bar and break the bolts off that way. around here nothing comes off a 20 year old truck

What I used to do is use a deep well socket and a long 3/8ths breaker bar with a cheater bar. Sometimes it would require a BFH, however now I don't have a breaker bar a cheater bar or a BFH.
