Is it safe to weld in new floor pans with a tank full of gas? What safety preautions should i take?

If you're worried about it drop the tank first. You could pack the top of the tank with sopping wet rags too, but when they dry out they'll catch fire which is even worse.

I'd probably drop the tank.

Always a good idea to have a good extinguisher handy. Make sure it'll put out a gasoline fire (water will make a gasoline fire worse)

Prolly a good idea to have someone keep watch while you're welding too. You will not notice a fire while you're welding...

If you are at all worried about it drop the tank. In the end it will be your end if something goes wrong.

I wouldn't risk the life of your truck, and yourself. even though the floorboard is a few inches above, the heat will still heat the tank up... so just drop it and be done with it.

I'd drop the tank, safer and easier. Besides, its not the gas that ignites, its the fumes.

I dropped the tank to weld the floors then ended up cutting all the floors out and it took about a year to get a tank back in /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
