Quick xj shaft ID.

I picked this up at the local junk yard. But failed to pay attention to the year xj it came from.

I held it up in place, but it appears to be too short.
It collapses and extends, but not far enough :dunno:

You have to heat it up to get rid of the plastic that locks the two shaft together. Then it will extend to the required length. I should read whole story. you need a late 80s shaft from big Heep wagon.
 
I was kind of thinking that... My truck is an 81. The ends seem like they might fit at least.
Haven't actually tried either one yet.

What years do supposedly bolt in?
 
I went through that link a few pages. And my xj shaft looks nothing like the ones in there lol. I must have the wrong one.
But if the ends fit my truck, it'll work when I'm done.

Yeah definitely doesnt look like mine. I believe I got mine off Ebay...It was around 30 bucks...I know a new one is like $120 but for the longest time they didnt have new ones and I wouldnt pay that anyway.
